Have you ever been put to sleep at the Dentist?
- I was g ed to sleep. They put a mask over your face and pump gas into it. Kills too many people though so they do not do it much anymore. I was young but I can just remember screaming went I woke up
- Well i went once & when i woke up the dentist said he'd given me a filling, weird really coz my skirt was a bit damp & i never did find the filling!
- do not they do it any more? I was years ago. They used gas and you used to have strange dreams. Once I dreamt I was on a ship with the dentist. Once when I was waking up, I could sww all the woodland animals on his calender moving around. strange stuff. Then you used to wait at the bus stop with wads of bloodied cotten wool in your gob
- yes i was and it was about 3 yrs ago when they were taking out my wisdom teeth. it felt the same as if you get put to sleep at a hosptial for surgery. only difference was that the dentist told me when they were putting me to sleep and when i had surgery in hospital they do not tell u. another difference was at the dentist they use a gas mask. and at the hospital i think they put it in the IV
- Yes, this is how it was done when I was a child - not very pleasant I remember feeling very sick and muzzy afterwards and I hated the smell of the gas and the gas mask over my face!
- Yeah when I was a kid. It was horrible! Well for the few seconds you're falling asleep. Then I woke up about 10minutes later thinking it had been a few hours
- Nope! Never have and never will!
- they do not do sedation anymore, it's too risky, and ex ve since they need a specilist to be on site to do it. they will only do it in extreme circumstances though. i think they stopped doing it befor i started goign to the dentist
- yes. twice. it's like being spaced out, not knowing where you are or why. last time i had it done, my dad told me i was talking to the girl there, and i do not remember a thing. it's like a dream almost. but some people have embarr ing stories, haha
- yes but not permanently because I had company coming that night for dinner
- Not for the dentist, but for my other surgery they g ed me to sleep. All they did was place a mask over my nose and mouth and told me to breathe. In about 3 seconds I was out
- only the oral surgeon when i had my wisdom teeth removed
- I have been yes, but I was just a kid and it was fine
- Well i have fallen asleep and they put laughing gas on me or whatever it's called! : it is fun to sleep when your at the dentist!
- Yes
- Yeah when i was younger i think i had it done about 2 times. From what i remember they sat me in a chair and put a needle in my arm and told me by the time they had counted to 10 the erflies would have come in and made me fall asleep. And by 10 i was definatly asleep! Quite random :
- Yes but it was in a hospital rather than at the actual dentists so there was a proper anaesthetist present. I just had an injection in my hand and then I only really remember waking up after that, about 20 minutes had p ed
- Yes and the guy was wiping off my chest when I woke up never went back there
- I 'went under' when they took my wisdom teeth out, it was really weird I was sitting in the chair and I do not even remember falling asleep then I remember waking up and my face was swollen and I was done. It was two hours later. I would rather have been asleep tho, definitely
- Yup when I was 14 I got gas they where removing some extra teeth I had I was very groggy afterwards and I still remember the smell of the gas some disinfectants remind me of the smell
- Just when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. It was the greatest nap I ever had had and the dreams were wild and funny
- Just like sleeping in your bed but you are in a chair. You wake up in a darkened room in a comfortable reclining chair with no memory of what just happened
- many times both gas and injection anaesthetic both of which not very pleasant
- Yeah, my dentist is as boring as they come. No sooner am I laid back in the chair and he starts talking, I am snoring
- Yes, I have. It was weird. They told me to count backwards from ten and it seemed like half a second later they were done and they were getting me out of the chair. I was in no pain at all, but a little dazed and confused
- no, I haven't
- Nope. I have never needed to be :
- Yes, twice. They put a sorta mask over your face and tell you breathe deeply and count backwards from 10, but both times I was asleep before I reached seven. I remember having a really strange dream the second time. You feel a bit woozy when you first wake up and a little shaky on your legs, but nothing too bad. I wish they still done it now, I hate having to get the injection
- when i was little i was. its kind of weird. i like to know whats going on
- Yes they used to do it all the time but very rarely now and I tell you it was horrible plus could not talk for days after having four teeth out
